Mislead information

On Feb. 5th 2015 we bought into Wholesale Escapes. We paid 1197.00. and you might as well say it was a waste. Tried to get a condo in Destin Fla at the beach and was told there was nothing available. So tried for Gulf shores and was the same thing. Then found out prices were cheaper when I checked myself without Wholesale Escapes. Also the annual fee was only if you traveled during that year. We never got to use it and I feel we were mislead. Surely do not want anyone else to fall for this scam. Would be nice to have money back, but do not see that happening

In short, we have been robbed

August 2011 my wife and I innocently gave Wholesale Escapes $5,196 in anticipation of having access to extravagant vacation resorts and wonderful travel opportunities for pennies on the dollar. We dutifully paid our annual maintenance fees. However, we NEVER did find any opportunities as promised by the people in Charleston, SC, Now we are told by RSI Vacations that this company no longer exists. I also am certain that the "Five Year Peace of Mind" certificate; which states that if Wholesale Escapes cannot save us and our family the cost of this program, Wholesale Escapes will refund the difference back to us. Our family truly has been robbed! If anyone has any knowledge of what we might do to get our stolen money back, please help.

They have opened shop in Pawley’s Island, SC. They are now called “The CharterClub” and I worked for them for a few months as an office clerk.

I began noticing some shady things after a month. It was extremely common for people to come in pissed as *** and wanting a refund. Then I was asked to help with the closing of deals by going over contracts with buyers. They told me to try and limit what the buyers read and summarize every section vaguely.

Then I was told to lie to them if they asked certain questions. I also noticed how quickly the salesman would drop a $15,000 package down to $2,000. No business can offer that kind of deal and still stay afloat. Then I did some research on the owner “Chip” and saw that he has been running this scam in several states for years and uses a lot of the same salesman.

He has banned from doing business in Florida by their District Attorney. He keeps changing the name of the business every 6 to 18 months in order to stay ahead of the horrible reviews he is getting. I had to quit because I could not watch them continue to take peoples retirement money.

When I mentioned these things as I quit, I was yelled at, cussed at, called a bunch of names, and got physical with a salesman. So please everyone reading this, BEWARE OF THE CHARTER CLUB IN PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC.

This company has resurfaced, I believe, as Regency Travel Club. They have the same phone number.

What are the odds one travel agency takes over the phone number of the other Travel Agency? There is a third company using that same number, Millennium Intentional...another travel agency.

The registered owner of Regency Travel, according to their website, is Richard Winkler, 940 Quaker Ln Apt 2907, E Greenwich, RI 02818-****. Don't know if that will help you or not, but I thought I'd pass it on.

BAD PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH

We purchased a plan with the understanding that we would not be traveling for 5 years and at $200 yearly fee this would add $1000.00 to something we would not be using. We were told that the $299 fee only applied during the years you traveled. This was a lie. They tell you any thing to get you to sign. This is a cheap BAIT AND SWITCH con job organization. They prey on people on vacation and expect they won't bother to take the time while on vacation to sit down to read the whole contract in the time you have to cancel a contract. People that do this rot have no conscious. Stay away their deals are nothing you can not get on your own.

Mislead into vacation membership club

Hello, We are another misled customer of Wholesale Escapes. We got the "Sales Pitch" while we were also in Charleston, SC. We have tried many times to use the alleged discount program after buying in for over $4,000 and found we can arrange a package equal to or at a better price than offered by Wholesale Escapes. We tried to arrange a golf package in Myrtle Beach, SC and were quoted condo accommodations only and found that we had to make our own golf reservations whereas the Golf Department at Compass Cove Resort offered us ocean front suites with breakfast and made the golf course reservations all for a better price. Another event was an ocean cruise, and while the cabin location was comparable, our cost through AAA was lower than Wholesale Escapes offered. Earlier this year we booked an all inclusive package with butler service directly with Sandals in Jamaica and as an afterthought (60 + days after booking direct with Sandals) we asked for a comparative quote from Wholesale Escapes. Once again, we had been able to do better on our own. We did not pay $4,000 so that Wholesale Escapes could match our price. The "sales pitch" was entirely different as we were told we could never obtain better pricing on travel plans on our own. We do the research on our own, spending the time and energy to consider a grand vacation; only, as of this writing, to have Wholesale Escapes offer the same and/or be willing to "Match" our efforts. We unfortunately have finally realized that we were taken in by gross misrepresentation.

WE Stinks with slick presentation

Here is a letter we sent to WE one year later: We wish to sever all relationship with Wholesale Escapes. Last May, 2015, we visited one of our favorite travel destinations – Charleston, South Carolina. We were invited to attend one of your presentations and fell for one of your slick sales pitches. Without checking with the Better Business Bureau which gives you a rating of “F”, we signed your contract. We believed in your promises, which in hindsight, we see were too good to be true. Not only are we disappointed in the travel help we have received over the past year, we are disappointed in you and your sales team for presenting such a sham and in ourselves for falling for such a fraud. We have learned the hard way that we can actually find travel arrangements for ourselves just as frugally as you promised. As a matter of fact, the search engine you used to book accommodations for our trip last fall to Vermont was one we could so easily have clicked on ourselves. The accommodations in Vermont were pleasant but nothing like your promises in May. After talking in depth with the innkeeper, we were assured that he would have matched any competitor's prices. So much for your “help”. As we stated earlier in this letter, Charleston was one of our favorite cities to visit. Our experience with you has been so damaging that it will probably leave a permanent blotch on our enjoyment of that city. Will we go back – not for a long time! Time does have a way of healing and we fully expect that in time we again will travel to a city that we loved to visit. Our experience with you has been a very costly mistake, both financially and to our belief in the goodness of humanity. You did provide us with a “free” horse-drawn carriage ride around Charleston. That aroma still reminds us of you! Affected, Dianne

Have you taken them to court?

They are a fraud and need to be brought to court to reimburse people for all the money they have taken!

Please take my advice run from these people

What they promised was a lie, took my money never furnished anything, asked for a refund and was told "NO" so please don't be as dumb as I was, don't believe it. I don't know how they are still in business it is a rip off and I wonder if investigated what would happen? When we called and were told "NO" they kept telling us the same lies over and over again. We spent about $2000.00 dollars we really didn't have, and at that time were a very young couple with small children and were taken advantage of. I strongly urge everyone to avoid this company and also to do your due diligence. If I had taken the time to get on line and/or contact the better business bureau I would have find out how horrible they were and saved my families money!

A scam

This company is a complete scam. Called several times and compared quotes on other web sites and theirs were $2 less per night to 20 more per night. on a cruise of 1800, they offered the exact same price as the cruise companies own web site minus 100 bucks. Other online or phone travel agents offered higher discounts. Even if it was 100 less, it would take 70 cruises to get your money back. Do not even considering buying their membership. the positive reviews here were obviously written by employees and are fake.

SCAM-DO NOT BUY THEIR LIES

This is a complete SCAM . I can't understand why they are still in business and shafting people . They take advantage of people trying to save on vacations, cruises /getaway. They lied to me about a cruise , " if I would join I could save over $2,000.00 on the cruise I was interested ." After joining I find out I actually paid over $1500.00 more for cruise with WHOLESALE ESCAPES than I would if I had gone though the cruise line or a legit travel agent. Also, they offer you all types of incentives to come listen to their spill ! Away LIES !!!!! SCAM-SCAM- SCAM - SCAM ---Stay away.

Addition to complaint against Wholesale Escapes

They said we never contacted them about a Disney World vacation and they are correct. However, the sales person ASSURED us this could all be done on line without the services of an agent. Our daughter and daughter-in-law are very good at researching vacations. We have taken several trips as a family group and they have done it all on line. After an afternoon of searching, they found accommodations far better than anything Wholesale Escapes offered. Therefore, we booked our trip without the services of Wholesale Escapes. The main reason we bought the plan was the sales representative assured us we could take our Disney World trip and stay in the Disney Park far cheaper than anything we could book on our own. Our dream was to be able to take a trip where our grandchildren could stay at a hotel in the park. That was the primary reason for our purchase, we thought this would trip would almost pay for the package. We are not ignorant people, we don't have a degree but have college hours and have had successful careers. We looked over our contract and we do not know how they got us to initial those charges. The salesman quoted us a service charge of $75, not the $199 in the contract, we would never have agreed to that price. Please add these comments to our original complaint. Cheaper on my own

I wanted to go on a cruise from Tampa FL to the western Caribbean in October of this year and I found a cheaper fare on Norwegian line on the dates I wanted for exactly the same cruise on my own than I was quoted from Wholesale Escapes. It seems they were not able to even get me a lower fare or a savings on airline tickets. I bought into their scam believing they could save me money on my travels. I did not happen! I am very disappointed! I wish I knew how to get my money back from them.

False statements convinced us to purchase this

There are 12 members of our family that enjoy traveling together. My wife and I purchased a membership, because they promised to save us up to half the regular cost to visit Disney World in Florida. They couldn't find us a motel inside the park with any discounts. My daughter found better deals online than they could offer us. It appears we wasted a lot of money on false promises! We were led to believe that they could save us enough on one trip to Disney World to pay for our membership. That did not happen. If there are any class action lawsuits pending, we would like to become a part of it. We paid $300.00 to have an expert licensee to go over our contract. That person was supposedly out of the office, so the salesman did it. That makes me wonder if our contract is valid. We should at the least get that fee returned. I would urge anyone to check reviews on this company before purchasing a membership. We lost a total of $4,394.00 by not doing so. We were told our yearly membership fee would be $75.00, now they're requesting $199.00. Submitted by Richard L. Hogue, Sr.

Review in Employees and Ex-employees category from South Windsor, Connecticut

'm James Fender, Project Director for Wholesale Escapes. I am leaving my position because I am sick and tired of stealing innocent people's money. I have worked in timeshare and now vacation clubs for the past 12 years. I have helped facilitate $2,500,000 in sales over the past 2 years alone, and the entire product is a scam. Steer very clear of W.E.

How do I get out of this and get my money back??? I just got a call from a customer service of theirs and they told me I had a $199 renewal fee that is due now and every year that they don't tell you about.

We made a big mistake signing up for this. I can go on any travel sight online and get the same deals myself. They haven't saved me any money...

But have cost me a lot!! Please help!!

How can one get out of a contract, and do you have a good number to contact them to resolve nonpayoff of our previous timeshare

We paid more than any of the people mentioned here. What fools we were.

They have never had anything for us. Airfare, hotels, resort, nothing.

Now we are getting emails about Renewing with them....are they kidding. Stay away.

Good for you James!! After I read online what other people had to say about Wholesale Escapes, I could not believe that someone as nice as you, worked for them.

I am proud of you for getting out. There is so much better out there for you and your family.

SCAM!!!

We were pressured into the same thing, but once we arrived home a few hours later, started reading about their scam and also saw very little to no savings. I have contacted my credit card company and they are in the process of disputing the charges, since I can't get ahold of Mike or Serena. Of course no one returns my emails or calls. I have also cancelled my credit card and they are issuing me a new number. They may end up getting my $179..but they won't get anymore from me. We live in Charleston and will be making a scene on the streets every time we are downtown walking past their people on the streets, (promising such great savings & freebies)...letting everyone know what these people are doing. We didn't even get the free trip they promised, they took it away cause they could give us a better deal and save us more money. Everything happened so fast, you don't really have time to figure out what is happening.

I will be sure NOT to visit with these people.
